There are a number of ways to manufacture a Venturi meter depending on application requirements, design geometry, and material choices. One method we use when applications require chrome-moly material is to utilize component section forgings. The top photo shows five (5) individual forgings that, when machined and finished, become sections of the Venturi meter. To ensure that the material has the proper metallurgical chemistry, CMTRs are required and are individually analyzed to verify that the material meets all application requirements.

Each forging is precision machined, inside and outside, which results in a fully machined Venturi meter when assembled as shown in the middle photo.

The assembly process involves welding each section according to the applicable ASME code using approved welding procedures, as well as properly certified welders. In addition, proper heat treating steps are taken to certify full compliance with the correct welding process for the materials used.

Finally, the Venturi is placed on a hydraulic test stand and undergoes high pressure testing, as shown in the bottom photo.
